Steady Progress on Inside Vaka - But

I continue to make steady progress on the inside of the vaka, but it is slow going and I am concerned that I might not make it by race day.  If I do make it, I thing the Everglades Challenge will be the maiden voyage for sure.

The landings are installed and I'm waiting for the fillets to cure.  I have ripped the stringers for the sides and they will go in next.

This is the mast step being glued up.  I had fun making this baby.  Multiple compund angles ending up with the mast vertical from side to side with a 3 degree rake.  Next it gets bonded to the hull.

Also, I finished bonding the last of the framing for the hatches in the floor.

      Chief,

Team RAF wishes you the best of luck with the Tridarka Radier. We really want to see her sail into Key Largo; we'll be waiting for you, haha.

It's good to know that someone will be at the finish line to guide me in

Chief, there is one main reason I entered this year EC. I wanted to compare my old inflatable against yours hi-tech plywood boat. Please, finish it prior to race.
I applaud to your choice of sail rig. I wish I put same rig on my boat. There is a guy, back in Russia, who has been modifying same boat as mine. He put gunter rig on his boat, and it proofed to be fastest rig all around, both in racing and cruising.

Don’t work to hard to put nice finish of your boat; it’s very painful to see her rubbing against piling (speaking from experience with my A-cat in 2003).
System 3 – pain in the… back, I tried it already. I prefer West system, because of easiness of use….

I wish you speedy completion of your boat and followed by speedy completion of EC.

Great to hear from you, Crazy Russian.  I just got the mast yesterday and the sails will be coming in soon.  Yes!  I agree the sail plan is a stroke of genius from Wizard.

I am starting to like System Three.  GelMagic is a pain when used from jugs, but is SUPER when used from their U-TAH package.

      Chief,
Great to see your boat. Reminds me of my house. Lots of work, not quite done, but oh won't it be nice. Good thing you didn't rush as you will really get those finishing details right. Looks like a beaut.

Thanks.  it seems like every time I cross a task off the list another two pop up!  but I'm having great fun and enjoying every minute of building the Sea Vagabond's boat.
